🤔 Reflection Questions

During the Video:

  1. How does the GPS analogy help you understand that God’s directions are more trustworthy than your own?

  2. What’s the difference between trying to “manage your sin” versus truly repenting and accepting God’s gift?

  3. Why does the speaker emphasize that salvation requires both acknowledging your need AND believing in what Jesus did?

After the Video:

  1. Before hearing the gospel, what were you trusting in to make you right with God?

  2. If someone asked you “How do you know you’re going to heaven” what would you say?

  3. What would change in your life if you truly believed your spiritual debt is completely paid?

💭 Personal Reflection

Take 5-10 minutes to honestly assess:

Rate yourself (1-10) on how well you currently:

  • Acknowledge that you’re a sinner who needs God’s grace: ___/10

  • Trust in Christ’s work rather than your own good deeds: ___/10

  • Live like someone whose debt has been completely cancelled: ___/10

  • Share the gospel with others who need to hear it: ___/10

Journal Prompt:
“Think about your spiritual journey. Have you truly called on the name of the Lord for salvation, or have you been trying to earn God’s acceptance? Write out your testimony of how you came to faith in Christ.”

🎯 Practical Applications

This Week, I Will:

Daily Connection Practices:

  • Thank God each morning that my spiritual debt is paid in full

  • When I sin, confess it and remember that Jesus already paid the price

  • Live with the confidence that comes from knowing I’m saved by grace, not works

Weekly Disciplines:

  • Read through the book of John to learn more about who Jesus is

  • Find a local church where I can grow in my new faith

  • Start each day by reminding myself “I am a child of God” instead of focusing on my failures

Obedience Steps:

  • If I’ve never truly called on Jesus for salvation, pray the prayer of salvation today (pray aloud the closing prayer below)

  • Write in the front cover of your Bible – “Today, (date) I accepted Jesus into my life”

  • Fill out your Spiritual Birth Certificate as a way to remember your spiritual birthday (attached below)

  • Get baptized to publicly declare my faith in Christ

🌱 Going Deeper

Additional Study:

  • Read the full context of salvation by grace in Ephesians 2:8-10

  • Study other passages about calling on the Lord (Acts 2:21, Joel 2:32)

  • Look up passages about assurance of salvation (1 John 5:13, John 10:28-29)

Discussion Questions for Groups:

  1. Why do you think it’s hard for people to accept that salvation is completely free?

  2. How can we tell the difference between head knowledge about Jesus versus heart faith in Jesus?

  3. Why is it easier to trust in yourself for salvation rather than trusting in Jesus?

🙏 Closing Prayer

“Jesus, thank You for paying the debt I could never pay. I confess that I am a sinner who has fallen short of God’s glory. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day. I’m done trying to be the captain of my own rescue mission. Today I call on Your name and surrender my life to You. Thank You that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Help me live like someone whose debt has been completely cancelled. Amen.”

📝 Weekly Challenge

The “Debt Cancelled” Challenge:
For the next 7 days, live like someone whose spiritual debt is paid in full:

  • Morning: Thank God that your debt is cancelled because of what Jesus did

  • Midday: When you mess up, remember that Jesus already paid for that sin

  • Evening: Reflect on how living with this assurance changes your perspective

If you prayed to receive Christ this week, tell someone! And start looking into getting baptized!
